
If the word ‘startup’ moves something inside you, then you must be living in a cave to not know about the biggest merger and acquisition in the Indian startup community, the retail giant Walmart, acquires Flipkart, an Indian ecommerce company for $16 billion with 77% stake after more than 20 months of talks.
Alumni of IIT- Delhi, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal met in 2005 and started an internet company called Flipkart on September 15, 2007 with a capital of 4 lakh Rupees in a two bedroom apartment of Koramangala, Bengaluru. What started as an online bookstore grew into an ecommerce giant selling over 80 million products across 70+ different categories.
This journey of 11 years has not been an easy one. Let’s take a trip down the road to retrospect over the milestones Flipkart has set in all these years.
What future holds for Flipkart is unknown, but it is not our assumption but a reflection of past 11 years that Flipkart has miles to go!
