1. What cookies & similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use browser local storage (which keeps small amounts of data in your browser) and security tokens. Together we call these “cookies and similar technologies”.
2. Why we use them
To keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as your selected country), keep the Service secure, and understand how the directory is used so we can improve it.
3. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary — required for core functionality such as authentication and security. These cannot be switched off.
- Preferences — remember choices like your country filter and recent searches.
- Analytics — help us understand usage to improve the Service (aggregated where possible).
- Marketing — we currently do not use advertising cookies; if this changes, we will update this policy and seek consent where required.
4. What we store
| Name | Purpose | Category | Storage / duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| accessToken | Keeps you signed in | Necessary | Local storage · until logout/expiry |
| refreshToken | Renews your session securely | Necessary | Local storage · until logout/expiry |
| bm:country | Remembers your selected country filter | Preferences | Local storage · until cleared |
| bm:recent-searches | Remembers your recent searches | Preferences | Local storage · until cleared |
| Cloudflare / Turnstile | Security, bot detection, and abuse prevention | Necessary | Cookie · session to ~30 days |
| Analytics identifiers | Aggregated usage measurement | Analytics | Cookie / storage · up to ~24 months |
5. Third-party cookies
Some technologies are set by third parties that help us run the Service, such as Cloudflare (security and bot protection) and our analytics provider. Their use of data is governed by their own policies.
6. Legal basis & consent
Strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure Service. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics) are used only with your consent where required by the GDPR/ePrivacy rules and India’s DPDP Act. Necessary technologies do not require consent.
7. Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block them. You can also use privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where supported. Note that disabling necessary technologies may break parts of the Service (for example, staying signed in).
8. Withdrawing consent
Where we rely on consent for non-essential cookies, you can withdraw it at any time via your browser controls (and our cookie preferences, when available). Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our technologies or the law change. We will post updates here with a new date.
