For those less familiar, the term CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. In essence, CRM is a tool/software that supports the Commercial Area in organizing their day-to-day work, in order to enhance their Commercials.
The purpose of this article is to show the most relevant points that justify the adoption of a CRM.
Never forget that "Only 2% of sales occur in the first meeting!" and that "8% of sales people achieve 80% of sales".
We can manage many processes simultaneously, but we are still human. Surely you have felt that you could do better when you forgot to send that email, create a new version of a proposal, register a new email from a client, etc. However, there is good news, you are no better or worse professional for it, just human! The actions a Customer Manager has to deal with are too many for us to rely 100% on our memory. Start recording all your actions in the CRM and this way you will be sure that when you need to review any process, contact, etc., you will have access to all the history in a fast, simple and effective way, thus freeing up your memory for other important tasks such as promoting new business opportunities, or (continued) loyalty of existing customers - where CRM will be equally important.
In CRM, if you have it well-structured, everything is organized. Taking the example of a service company: we can define that everything is born in a Commercial Opportunity that can be transformed into an Account, when there is a commercial framework to present a Proposal that in turn is linked to a Business.
The most recent CRM platforms allow you to save all the email exchanges you make with your customer and to register all the calls you make or receive from your cell phone. In this last point, you need to have an application installed on your smartphone, thus, everything is properly organized with all the information that circulated between the parties.
Those who still use a number of platforms to manage their business life such as email, calendar, task manager, etc., certainly have the habit of creating tasks or alerts to follow up on a proposal either through an email or a phone call. CRM allows us to do this but always in an organized and centralized way. In a very simple way, we can create a deal, the respective proposal and then create an alert that tells me the need to do the follow-up after 3 days. After these 3 days, the CRM alerts me to the task and after it has been done, it is still possible to register in the CRM the result of the action, in this example, register something like "The client is still analyzing the proposal" and then create a new task to do a new follow-up after another 3 days. So, nothing slip through the cracks.
With the metrics provided by CRM it is possible, in a simple and effective way, to measure the sales funnel properly segmented by sales stages and thus understand how often it is necessary to feed the funnel, which stage or stages take longer to overcome and, most importantly, see the conversion rate of proposals into orders.
After some time working with CRM - measuring the sales funnel and other equally important indicators, it becomes possible to forecast sales by service/product and the respective periods where sales increase or decrease throughout the year, and thus it becomes possible to define strategies to attack the less favorable periods of sales and understand the best ways to sell more and better.
