A Kn95 mask is a widely-used, short-term name for a Kn95 particulate filter respirator, that meets the requirements of the Chinese Safety and Health and standards. The Kn95 refers to the number of times the particulate filter is replaced during the respirator's life, and also the number of pounds per day it can be worn. If a respirator has more than one Kn95 filter, then it is called a "blend" respirator. A "dry" or "wet" Kn95 mask is one that only filters the inside of the nose and mouth. A full-face mask, however, can also filter the outside of the face. Kn95 masks are made from two different materials - a powder-based, activated carbon material that filters microscopic dust particles and odors; and a silicone-based, semi-urethane foam material that covers the inside of the nose and mouth.

In order to properly protect one's lungs while doing their everyday duties (i.e., breathing), many people use a Kn95 mask. These masks offer many benefits, most notably the protection against particulate air pollution (SAP) that is caused by the emission of dust and other irritants from a business, industry, or home. Kn95 masks come in two forms - either full-face or mask-only. Both styles of mask offer similar protection, but full-face offers greater protection than the mask-only style.

Many businesses require the use of Kn95 masks, whether it is mandatory or not. For example, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) require the use of Kn95 masks in all areas of employment, whether in industrial or service jobs. This is due to the fact that workplace exposure to small particles of dust and fumes can lead to serious health problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, cough, and even cancer. In addition, the high level of toxic particles that can be found in these environments poses similar risks, leading to the need for these individuals to wear these protective barriers.

Protection of labourers and healthcare employees

In order to make sure that all employees are safe when using these Kn95 masks, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires employers to place them on all individuals who will be working in these areas. However, many employers are also finding creative means of ensuring that employees who may not be wearing Kn95 masks are aware of their presence. In one instance, an employer provided Kn95 masks to an employee on his break only after he told the boss that he was not wearing a respirator. When the employee returned to work the next day, the employer discovered that the filter had been removed, leading to the employee contracting a very rare form of lung disease.

Although this example is extreme, it illustrates the importance of ensuring that all individuals who will potentially come in contact with the respiratory virus are wearing Kn95 masks. This ensures that everyone, including the healthy, as well as those with respiratory problems, remains free from infection. In fact, one of the most common reasons why a Kn95 filter is required in an office environment is the risk of airborne illnesses, which can be transmitted by simply sharing the same chair, desk, floor, or office equipment with multiple other employees.

Another major concern is the threat posed by the virus that is known as a workplace-associated respiratory syndrome or workplace respiratory illness. This form of illness has become one of the biggest causes of missed days from work in the United States and can lead to a number of serious consequences.
