
The internet giant Google on Friday (31st August 2018) announced the first batch of 10 shortlisted startups who will be part of its "Launchpad Accelerator" mentorship programme in India, that will provide the companies with mentoring, equity free support and cloud credits.
The classes will debut on September 10 at Google's office in Bengaluru. Launchpad Accelerator India is Google’s three-month program wherein the shortlisted startups will begin with a two-week intensive mentorship boot camp which will be followed by a customised virtual support for the remaining duration.
The key criteria for selection required startups to provide a solution for an India-specific problem using advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning and applications for the same were opened in beginning of July this year i.e 2018.

The shortlisted startups are doing incredible work in areas, from enhancing employability and earning-abilities of the blue-collared workforce to using satellite imagery to support farmers’ decision-making process. This statement was added by Paul Ravindranath G, Programme Manager, Google India.
The statement added, with the help of this programme Google is hoping that they will be able to bring the best of Google- their expertise, platforms, tools and core strengths including machine learning and AI, to help Indian startups build, scale and grow their offering as these startups are using the state-of-the-art technology to solve for India’s real needs.

Audiovisual courses and quizzes to help the users learn English Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada is offered by the current version of their app.
Google runs its Launchpad accelerator globally and has supported at least thirty Indian startups and it claims to have helped them collectively raise over $70 million and drive revenue growth of almost 500 percent.
