It takes a specific kind of person to become successful and a separate kind of person to become successful on the internet. These days you can gain a following from just about anything. Creating a viral video it can happen overnight. When working in eCommerce, it takes a certain style of marketing, or if you run a service provider, it might take a different approach. However, no matter which kind of web entrepreneur you are, the core values should stay the same. Here are the five attributes that we believe contribute and mould a successful web entrepreneur.
To be your own boss you will need to find work and get noticed. First and foremost, you are going to need wizard organising skills.
Get a diary with a full page for each day and take notes on what you do, what you achieve and what you have earned every day. Write in it in different coloured pens or use highlighters to draw your attention to upcoming deadlines. Write reminders several days before a deadline, especially if it is for far in the future. You don't want to get caught out.
Set yourself goals and missions and reward yourself when you do something brilliant and achieve what you were hoping to.
You can also use an online calendar, but these can distract focus and get forgotten about. Get a big red diary and leave it out on the side where you will see it every day.
If you are organized but not determined, you won't get far. Have a fire in your heart and soul and be enthralled by what you are doing. Have a brand identity that pops out of the page. Here's a free logo design application to get you started: https://logocreator.io/.
If you aren't feeling involved in what you are doing, for whatever reason, then take a break, reassess and work out why you aren't feeling it. If you need to change tactic, then go for it, be your own champion. If you are feeling down for a day, then just do one thing from your diary and make sure you work better the next day.
It can be super easy to fall into the trap of constantly working and not taking any time to stop. Force yourself to take breaks. Give yourself an hour off at lunchtime and shut your laptop. Move into a different room and have something delicious to eat.
Give yourself days off, too and make sure you plan ahead for them. Be honest to yourself when setting deadlines or agreeing to work. Be honest to your customers or clients too. If you won't be able to make the post that day, give them a day that you will go so that they can depend on you. People don't mind something taking longer if they know exactly when to expect it and have trust that it will always be on time (or early).
Create an environment in which you can truly focus. Roald Dahl wrote in a shed at the end of his garden and had a pot of sharp pencils for his use whenever he needed a new one so that he didn't have to stop to sharpen one. That is the kind of focus you need. Be serene in your environment and make it yours. Don't allow other people to use the space while you are and if you are working from home, explain to your family why you need peace and quiet.
Be brave and take action when you need to. Don't stagnate or only work on one part of your business. You won't get anywhere in the online market without knowing what is trending, what is new, and keeping up with it. Utilize all the tools available and ensure that you are at the top of your personal game always.
Follow these simple core values to get you started and hold onto them as you progress. Remember to always feel refreshed and excited as often as you can to start work. If you feel this way, you are doing the right thing!
